An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time band 5 Stroke Nurse to join the Stroke Team at University Hospital of North Tees. Whether you are just starting out on your Nursing career, looking for a change of job, working in a Nursing Home or even returning to practice, we would welcome the opportunity to meet with you.

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated person with an interest in Stroke to be part of our expanding team in delivering high standards of care to all our patients.

Main duties of the job

The stroke unit at University Hospital of North Tees has an established bed base of 26 acute stroke beds. Our aim is to provide a holistic care for acute stroke patients through a multidisciplinary approach by working with our stroke specialist teams of therapists, doctors and nurses.

The unit receives direct stroke admissions from the paramedics, accident and emergency unit, emergency assessment unit and gp practices. It also receives patients through repatriation from RVI and JCUH for patients who live within the catchment area following invasive neurosurgical procedures such as mechanical thrombectomy and hemicraniectomy. One of the integral part of our stroke care is the provision of thrombolysis for eligible patients 24 hours a day and referrals to regional thrombectomy centers 7 days a week.

The Stroke multidisciplinary team is passionate about getting it right for patients and their families. We believe that by investing in our staff that they will deliver better care to our patients and help create and contribute to a work environment that makes it fun to come to work.

About us

At North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust our main priority is, and always will be, to provide safe and high quality care to our patients every day; the kind of care we would want for ourselves and our loved ones. We want our organisation to be the best place to work with the right staff, in the right roles, at the right time, to ensure we deliver exceptional patient care and experience.

We will support staff through providing an inclusive and supportive workplace with health and well-being initiatives, staff benefits and opportunities for personal and professional development. Staff recognition is very important to us; as well as performance reviews and appraisals, we recognise staff through Star and Team of the month, colleague recognition - a note of thanks, Managers Awards, Shining Stars and Service Awards.

We recruit for values and "Together we are North Tees & Hartlepool"
