Job summary

The post holder will be provided with the support to achieve the clinical leadership, co-ordination and the delivery and development of the functional bowel / pelvic floor nursing service, alongside the current lead specialist nurse. Support will be provided in order for the applicant to achieve the clinical skills necessary for initial patient consultation clinical assessment, nurse prescribing, radiology investigation requesting, and administration of biofeedback therapy and monitoring of sacral nerve stimulation therapies.

Once trained, the post holder will play a key role in the development, organisation, management and delivery of a high quality specialist service in line with the national Pelvic Floor Society guidelines. Provide leadership and specialist clinical expertise within a multidisciplinary framework to deliver effective, evidence based patient focused care encompassing national standards for patient safety and monitoring. The role will also involve managing practice developments, clinical safety and progression of the service alongside the multidisciplinary team. The post holder will be trained to contribute to the facilitation of the planning, delivery and evaluation of care pathways for a designated group of patients, will be responsible for timely patient pathways and will liaise with other professionals on day to day operational issues, with a view to undertake the role of service improvement lead.

Main duties of the job

  • Managing a caseload of patients and coordinating nurse-led clinics.

  • Co-ordinate and participate in Pelvic Floor MDT's and provide an overview of the service at a senior level (once competent) .
  • Teaching patients in treatments such as transanal irrigation and care of ACE, as needed.
