Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Midwifery Assistant post to work within the Community setting at North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Midwifery Assistant to provide support to the multi-disciplinary community team by undertaking appropriate duties following initial assessment and planning of care by a registered midwife, and to work without direct supervision in the community setting. Assisting in delivering post natal care in the home and in post natal clinics.

Main duties of the job

The role involves providing care and support in infant feeding, assisting with initiation and continuation of breastfeeding in line with Unicef standards.

To provide support to the Community Midwifery Team and the wider Maternity service to deliver on key Public Health messages eg Smoking in Pregnancy.

The role involves communication with MDT and to deliver parent education in the form of Breastfeeding Workshops to the service users we provide care to.

Provide support to the midwifery Team by undertaking non-clinical duties.
