Job summary
The Head of Performance will be responsible for the development, implementation, management and availability of high quality analytics responding to both internal and external requirements.
The Head of Performance will provide senior operational leadership to the Trust's performance and business intelligence function and will represent the Trust at external performance forums.
The Head of Performance will build strong working relationships with Care Groups and corporate leadership teams to support the delivery of performance.
The Head of Performance will ensure that the business intelligence platform is continuously developed to ensure it is dynamic and responsive.
As a senior leader within the Directorate of Planning, Performance & Improvement, the post holder will work to deliver the directorate vision and strategy, in particular the Business Intelligence Strategy, data modelling, forecasting and reporting
The Head of Performance will also be required to deputise for the Deputy Director of Planning, Performance & Improvement in all areas relating to business intelligence, performance and Emergency Preparedness.

The post holder will need to work closely with stakeholders both internally and externally.The post holder will provide and receive highly complex, highly sensitive and often contentious information.Communicate highly complex information to all levels across the organisation.Provide cover for the Deputy Director of Planning, Performance & Improvement in appropriate arenas including Business Team and external forums.
The post holder will be responsible for the development of systems and processes within the performance function of the directorate to ensure timely, accurate information is available to all and underpinned by all standard operating process documents.
Ensure access to information through the Business Intelligence Platform and that reports and papers are available to all, as appropriate.
Lead the continuous improvement approach to this tool in the provision of information to all care group and corporate teams, ensuring ward to board to ward visibility.
Lead on continuous development of an integrated Performance Improvement framework responsive to all internal, local and national standards in regard to monitoring and forecasting trajectory of improvement when standards are not being met.
Provide oversight and escalation of exceptions against any standards away from compliance, working closely with the owner to ensure recovery trajectory is implemented and monitored.
Support the review of risk aligned to the board assurance framework working closely with the Deputy Director of Planning, Performance & Improvement.
Work closely with the Head of Information in regard to ensuring seamless process of data transfer and move from manual process where possible to provide an efficient and effective service.
Develop and implement a Performance & Business Intelligence strategy ensuring continuous evaluation maintains alignment to the directorate and organisational vision and strategic aims.
Introduce new and innovative performance management strategies to maximise organisational efficiency.
Work in partnership with appropriate representative from the Patient Safety and Quality Directorate to ensure the provision of appropriate information to include the in annual Quality Accounts and Care Quality Commission requirements.
Provide support to the development of a coordinated approach to Performance Reviews working collaboratively with other corporate directorate representatives
Ensuring that performance and Business Intelligence team are forward looking in regard to performance through the provision of forecasting.
Lead on the production and delivery of a suite of performance reports for Board and sub-committees including full responsible for the full and timely collation of the monthly Integrated Performance Report (IPR) for presentation to Trust Board working in partnership with key stakeholders.
Respond to internal audit programme and outcome to ensure all elements of the service receive significant assurance.
Play a leading role alongside the Deputy Director of Planning, Performance and Improvement to develop and formulate the long term strategic plans for the delivery of business intelligence supporting delivery of the organisational objectives.
Deliver an improvement approach to performance and assurance, including analysis and interpretation of highly complex data relating to trends, patters and anomalies and narrative to support working closely the clinical and care group teams.
Ensure that the Trust has effective systems and processes for accurate and timely reporting against all standards, including ensuring that performance KPIs reflect the key priorities, and challenges, of the trust including corporate objectives as well as risks identified.
Ensure that the Trust has effective systems to capture and monitor the metrics within the NHS Long Term Plan, Oversight Framework and annual planning requirements, ensuring compliance with regulations.
Ensure the team support the development of performance trajectories for national standards and key performance indicators across the Trust.
Ensure appropriate systems are developed to that care groups management teams can routinely access the information necessary to support delivery of agreed performance standards.
Work with clinical and corporate teams to develop their ability to interpret and use performance data, to identify areas that may or have deviated from plan and support remedial actions to ensure improved delivery.
Provide oversight and challenge on improvement plans produced by care group and corporate teams to monitor progress, where necessary provide direct hands on analytical support to assist support closing the loop.
Support the development of the appropriate processes to support performance reviews across the organisation.
Develop and ensure that Community datasets form part of the reporting process ensuring full organisational oversight and sign off process for submission.
The post holder will be expected to respond and to work to tight deadlines with an expectation of utilisation of the appropriate team resources to ensure delivery.
Ensure attendance at all meetings aligned to the portfolio ensuring provision of the appropriate level of information.
