Applications are invited for an innovative post combining Sport and Exercise and Emergency Medicine at the University Hospital of North Tees. This post will give the successful applicant the experience and skills to develop a portfolio in Emergency Medicine and to acquire Sport and Exercise Medicine experience and qualifications. The successful applicant will be funded to undertake the Diploma in Sport and Exercise Medicine at the University of Bath.
The post is available from August 2023 for 2 years. Start date is flexible.
Alternatively, we would welcome applications from doctors who have completed their SEM training and are trying to find NHS employment. We would welcome their further SEM skills and offer the opportunity to increase EM skills and complete a suitable EM portfolio to complement their SEM training.
Main duties of the job
The post holder would be incorporated into our three tier junior rota depending upon previous emergency medicine experience. They will be given the chance to work alongside two consultants with additional SEM qualifications to develop their specialty knowledge.
The emergency department runs two review clinics per week plus two specialty Acute Injury Review clinics per week. We provide inpatient management of head injuries and have major specialties on site with regional specialties available in a neighbouring hospital.
The post will be available from August 2023 and the appointment will be for the two years duration of the Diploma Course and subject to satisfactory performance during initial 6 months probationary period.

- The opportunity to gain further experience in minor injuries work within the integrated Urgent Care Centre;
