The pathology departments at University Hospitals North Tees and Hartlepool (NTH) and South Tees Hospitals (STH) are working collaboratively to develop a joint service called Tees Valley Pathology with services being delivered on all hospital sites.
We are seeking applications from suitably qualified, enthusiastic HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists with appropriate experience, knowledge and skills to join our scientific team and participate in the delivery of services provided by Cellular Pathology as part of the Tees Valley pathology Service operating out of University Hospital North Tees and Hartlepool Hospital, Stockton on Tees, Hartlepool Hospital, The James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough and the Friarage Hospital, Northallerton.
Candidates for the Specialist Biomedical Scientist (Band 6) roles should be HCPC State Registered, hold an IBMS Specialist Portfolio and have experience of working various shifts across both core and non-core hours in their chosen discipline or have equivalent expertise that can be demonstrated on their application.
Candidates who have, are working towards or are awaiting specialist portfolio completion may apply to be considered for a Band 6 role.
In addition, any applicant who is either in the position of being HCPC registered or in the process of having their HCPC registration granted can also apply and this needs to be clearly stated on your application. These applications will be considered for any vacant Band 5 positions that arise as part of this recruitment process.

Main duties of the job
The post is fixed term, 24 months.
Whilst posts may be based at the North Tees Hospital site or James Cook University Hospital site you may be expected to work between all sites with a Laboratory service (e.g., also Friarage Hospital, Northallerton, Hartlepool Hospital etc.) on a rotational basis, to meet the needs of the service.
The role involves taking a leading role in achieving targets therefore effective interpersonal and communication skills are crucial. The ability to work efficiently as part of a team and be able to prioritise work in order to meet strict deadlines is essential.
