Job summary

The Pathology departments at North Tees and Hartlepool (NTH) and South Tees Hospitals (STH) are working collaboratively to develop a joint service called Tees Valley Pathology with services being delivered on all hospital sites. The new service model is in a unique position of being able to recruit a dedicated Pathology Training Lead to support the Training Manager and to ensure all personnel of the laboratory be competent and work in accordance with the laboratories management system of recording training and development to meet ISO 15189, MHRA, HTA, HSE, standards and others as required.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious, dedicated individual with a specific focus on Training and Competency. The post holder will work together with the Pathology Training Manager, Service and Operational teams, and Pathology Quality Team to support pan pathology training in order to help develop highly skilled staff.

Whilst posts may be based at the James Cook University Hospital site or University Hospital of North Tees site you may be expected to work between all sites with a Laboratory service (e.g., also Friarage Hospital, Northallerton, Hartlepool Hospital etc.) on a rotational basis, to meet the needs of the servic

Main duties of the job

Training and development of staff is a high priority for the organisation and the post-holder, together with the Training Manager and Service Leads will facilitate the development of staff across all disciplines, leading on IBMS Certificate of Competence, NHS Scientist Training Programme and future training pathways, and help to identify staff training, ensuring it is communicated in an effective manner and recorded.

The post holder will support the Training Manager in the development of a training policy and the accompanying training programmes encouraging the culture that all staff are able to contribute to the training of staff.

The post holder under the support of the Training Manager, Quality Manager, Service Leads and Operational / Scientific Leads where appropriate, will organise training and development for staff undertaking the IBMS Certificate of Competence and lead on regular tutorial sessions to help understand the scope of their future role.

You must be able to demonstrate a commitment to CPD, have excellent interpersonal and time-management skills.

This post quires cross site working, supporting staff at James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough, Friarage Hospital in Northallerton, University Hospital North Tees in Stockton and UniversityHartlepoolHospitalin Hartlepool sites, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and helping maintain the provision of an effective and efficient service.
