Specialist Falls Nurse

Job summary

Reporting to the Lead Nurse for Falls, the post holder will be an expert Clinical Nurse Specialist and be able to demonstrate specialist clinical competence and knowledge base. With the support of the Lead Nurse, the post holder will lead the Falls Service at the designated work base, whilst providing team support at other sites as required.

The post holder will provide specialist clinical advice to healthcare professionals providing direct support and advice to the approximate 1818 yearly falls reported Trust Wide. The role will require site-based falls leadership and specialist professional advice to be provided to the nursing and multidisciplinary teams, the falls team are part of the Fundamentals of Care assisting with report writing, presenting to committees of interest whilst providing day to day support with patient assessment and proactive falls prevention. Lead the embedding of improvement initiatives and develop new opportunities for improving the Falls Service and quality of patient care.

Main duties of the job

Welcomes and supports the learning and development of all staff and pre-registration learners on practice placement within clinical area, including members of the multidisciplinary team.

Facilitate a conducive learning environment to support best practice and safe patient care.

Engage with the mandatory annual appraisal process. Identifying individual learning needs, areas of strength/development and consider opportunities to support PDP.

Ensures all relevant E-Learning, mandatory, statutory and essential training is completed and compliance is maintained.

Engages in opportunities that expand knowledge, such as; utilising this knowledge to uphold and adopt best practice in the clinical area and share updates with the wider team. Maintain professional revalidation, self-reflective practice as per registration requirements.

Maintain professional and accurate capability records and be able to produce original copies to demonstrate skills acquired
