This is an exciting opportunity for a registered nursing associate looking to expand their skills or an individual willing to undertake the registered nurse associate course . You will be learning how to deliver peritoneal dialysis to our home dialysis cohort in the community . This post is for 37.5 hours a week based in Kent and Canterbury hospital within the home dialysis unit
The working times are 08:00 till 16:00 Monday to Friday or 08:00-18:00 Four Days a week
We are looking for an individual who is eager to learn, have a kind and caring attitude towards patients and colleagues and can be a positive team member. Within this role you will be looking after patients who have a chronic condition who require peritoneal dialysis treatment at home
We will provide the in-house training you require to safely carry out your role in peritoneal dialysis which includes specific dialysis training and further development opportunities within your role. You will have a Band 6/7 as a mentor while you are training and a Band 4 Registered Nurse Associate for peer support .
The main duties of this role include providing peritoneal dialysis care to renal in and out-patients on a daily basis including fluid management, recording observations, daily weights , medication, anaemia, transplant and diabetes management.
Main duties of the job
To work alongside the specialist nurses within the Home dialysis service (peritoneal dialysis ). To provide support to both patients and carers who are doing peritoneal dialysis in the community and hospital setting.
To be a patient advocate who can work autonomously with support from the clinical nurse specialists. To be responsible for caring and training of the peritoneal dialysis patients ensuring that their emotional and psychosocial well being are being met.
The role of the nursing associate within Home dialysis includes working off site to do out-patients' clinics also visiting patients in their homes across East and West Kent
