Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Secretary in the Cardiology department. We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic highly motivated, hardworking individual to join a busy, friendly and dedicated team.

Main duties of the job

The job role will be varied. You will need to provide a wide range of comprehensive administrative and clerical duties to an expanding team of Cardiology Consultants, Specialist Nurses and Junior Doctors. You will need to be reliable and hard working with excellent communication and IT skills. You will be expected to work as a team member but also as an individual using your own initiative.

  • Computer literate including Word and Excel
  • GCSE A - C English or equivalent, RSA level 3 or equivalent, BTEC or Equivalent

Desirable

  • Medical Secretary qualification

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Experience of a range of work procedures and practice majority non-routine.
  • Minimum 2 years secretarial experience.
  • Experience of working for and within a team.
  • Able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines and use own initiative
  • Able to communicate with, co-ordinate and liaise with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Able to remain calm in a busy environment whilst working under pressure
  • Ability to implement policies and procedures for own team and propose changes
  • Good interpersonal skills Excellent organisational skills
  • Able to communicate routine information but understanding barriers, imparting occasional sensitive information

  • Previous NHS experience
  • Knowledge of Excel (manipulation of spreadsheets and basic formula
  • Experience of simple business reports written to standard of presentation.
