Job summary
We are looking for a caring and enthusiastic Nurse to join our Renal team, providing dialysis to 47 patients a week, from Dover and the surrounding area. Ideally the post holder would have experience working in a dialysis unit, however we have a comprehensive training schedule for the right candidate and full training will be given.
We currently have a full-time and part-time vacancy for a Band 5 Haemodialysis Nurse at the Dover Renal Satellite Unit, for 37.5 and 24 hours per week. The shifts are from Monday to Saturday long days utilising early and late shifts if required. Part of the role is to be part of the on-call dialysis service which after extensive training is given you will be part of the on-call rota.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for an individual who is eager to learn, has a kind and caring attitude towards patients and colleagues and can be a positive team member. Within this role you will be looking after patients who have a chronic condition who attend the unit three times a week
We will provide the in-house training you require to safely carry out your role in dialysis which includes specific dialysis training and further development opportunities within your role.
The main duties of this role include providing haemodialysis care to renal patients on a daily basis including fluid management, recording observations, daily weights intravenous medication, pressure sore prevention, vascular access care and diabetes management.
After training you will be expected to connect & disconnect patients from dialysis, using their vascular access, this could be via a central venous catheter, a fistula or a graft, you will be responsible for the care you provide to the patients and accountable to the senior team.
We also work closely with the multidisciplinary team, this includes Dieticians, Access team, AKC nurses, Counsellors, Renal Care Navigator, Renal Registrars, Renal Consultants and Transplant nurses
