Job summary
Same Day Emergency Care which sees patients who are expected to go home the same day. This is a high paced area seeing 60+ patients a day, requiring assessment and treatment to enable them to go back home. We work closely with the Acute Physicians. Our nurse led DVT service has just been relaunched as well as the Virtual Ward service which provides daily medical support for patients who are able to go home for monitoring.
AMU A is our acute assessment area where we admit, assess and treat patients with an expected admission of up to 48hours. The turnover is high and the patients more acutely unwell on admission.
AMU B is our unit for patients that are still aiming to be discharged home within 72hrs.
Main duties of the job

Caring for acutely unwell patients from their admission, which will include patients requiring cardiac monitoring, and sepsis to name a few.
To help you do this you will supported by a large multidisciplinary team which includes an established advanced clinical practitioner (ACP) programme, nurse consultants, practice development support and a governance, quality and audit team. AMU A, B and SDEC have their ownUnit managers and a Matron who are supported by the Head of Nursing for UEAM Liaising with a broad multi-disciplinary team including a team of Acute Physicians, Radiology, Physiotherapists, Therapy Assisted Discharge teams, ACPs, Virtual Ward, Junior Doctors, specialist Doctors and our large team of ward clerks, house keepers and porters.
