Cardiology in East Kent Hospitals is one of the largest services in the South East. We are the regional heart attack centre for Kent and Medway and the highest volume non-surgical PPCI centre in the UK. For our local East Kent (760,000) population, we perform 1100 PPCI per year in our WHH catheter labs. There is widespread use of rotablation, lithoplasty, intracoronary imaging (IVUS/OCT) and functional invasive assessment (FFR/IMR). Moreover, we have developed a CTO programme over the past 2 years performing both antegrade and retrograde cases. With regards to the regional service, we perform approximately 650 PPCIs per year on the heart attack pathway. We have a particularly high percentage of shock and OOHCA patients and our adjusted mortality is well below expected for this high-risk cohort as evidenced from the BCIS database.
About us
We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with three acute hospitals and community sites serving a local population of around 700,000.We also provide specialist services for Kent and Medway.
We're on an exciting journey of transformation. With a new Medical School at the centre of our community, a focus on research, clinical leadership and making our trust a rewarding and friendly place to work, there's never been a better time to join us.
