Job summary
We are seeking enthusiastic, motivated and clinically experienced individuals to apply for the position of Trainee Advanced Practitioner Sonographer within the Obstetric Ultrasound team in East Kent.
Successful candidates will join us at a time where there have been exciting new changes to the department.
You will become part of a strong, multidisciplinary team focused on the provision of the East Kent Obstetric Ultrasound service.
You will complete your PGCE via distanced learning at HSC University and you will required to attend the university for some blocks of time. Whilst you are training you will be paid at band 7 annex 21 until the PGCE and preceptorship are completed.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be part of the ultrasound team in providing an effective and efficient ultrasound service.
The post holder will be responsible for planning and running their day to day list of patients.
The post holder will be required to carry out a wide range of complex clinical duties, acting on their own initiative, and using a wide range of professional, analytical and reasoning skills.
The post holder is an autonomous practitioner carrying out a wide range of complex Obstetric scans. They report these examinations without routine input from any other professional discipline. They are required to make decisions regarding follow-up scans to monitor conditions and also referral to the appropriate clinicians when necessary. These actions will be based on the findings of the ultrasound examinations.
The Sonographer is required to communicate highly sensitive information to patients and clinicians.
The post holder will be required to travel across sites to cover lists.
