Job summary
To provide patient focused and high quality clerical support to the Respiratory Diagnostic Department.All clerical staff will be multi-skilled and trained to ensure that at all times, data quality will be the highest priority.To make appointments according to clinical need.To ensure patients that need another appointment will be accommodated.All notes/referrals needed for clinics will be found, reports filed in them and notes tracked to the appropriate person for next appointment.To help make the department run as smoothly as possible.To deal with phone queries regarding all aspects of Respiratory investigations
Main duties of the job
To appoint diagnostic outpatients from GP and Consultant referrals for appropriate investigations in order of clinical need.o Maintain a waiting list of patients waiting for investigations, who can't be appointed straight away.o Appoint extra clinics to help bring the waiting times down to be acceptable level.o Answering telephone queries and if necessary transferring calls to an appropriate member of staff.o To undertake other clerical duties as required, appropriate to the grading.o To cover reception when needed.o Work within the constraints of the DATA Protection Act and attend all mandatory training as required.o To attend all in-house training courses as required, enabling the delivery of new service developments/changes
