Highly Specialised Cardiac Scientist / Physiologist

Job summary
We are currently expanding services into a second community diagnostic centre, based in Broadstairs, Thanet. This post is to grow our community provision of echocardiography; however, the post holder will be expected to maintain knowledge and skills, rotating into the acute hospital setting when required.
As highly specialised cardiac scientist you will also be expected to be able to carry out the complex cardiac tests relevant to your chosen specialism (Echo or Cardiac rhythm management). You will also provide leadership, support and give advice to junior members of the team and other health professionals as necessary.
In return you will enjoy working alongside:
- A multi-disciplinary team of physiologists, several BSE accredited in Echocardiography with others completing the process, several staff with BHRS/IBHRE accreditation in pacing and/or EP
- 2 imaging consultants with particular interest in echocardiography including Stress Echocardiography, Bubble/Contrast studies and TOEs and Cardiac MRI
- Currently 15 cardiologists across the trust with various specialisms, some Interventionalists, some pacing/devices specialists.
Main duties of the job
You will:
- have at least two years' work experience at senior physiologist level, be competent and knowledgeable in investigations and the key elements of the role.
- Hold ILS/ALS, have a HNC/BSC in clinical physiology / MSc in Clinical science (cardiac) or equivalent.
- be able to provide a high quality cardiac investigations service with specialist knowledge and experience in one or more areas.
- be proficient in the following cardiology investigations: echocardiography, Physiologist lead exercise testing, pacemaker and ICD follow up clinics and technical support at permanent pacemaker and ICD implants, and undertake cardiac catheterisation procedures
- participate in one of our out of hours services (Pacing On call, PPCI on call or weekend echo provision)
We are open to considering applicants who are working towards accreditation and building on their senior experience at a band 6 level, with a view to develop into a band 7 position.
