Job summary
Working within a diverse Gastroenterology/Hepatology team that is supported by both Kings College and The Royal Free, the aim of this role is to provide a responsive and timely Fibro-Scan service to our local community. This role is crucial to ensure the team can provide high quality patient care in the most time appropriate way.
Transient elastography (Fibroscan) is a new technique which can allow an assessment based on the 'vibrations of mild amplitude (50Hz) waves inducing an elastic shear wave that propagates through the underlying tissue'.
Transient elastography (Fibroscan) is a non-invasive evaluation of liver fibrosis which can supplement the current need for liver biopsy; measuring liver stiffness, quick and easy to use (training will be given), patient friendly and can give results immediately unlike liver biopsy. It is proposed for use to allow for the monitoring of fibrosis progression.
