Job summary
Nuclear Medicine in East Kent Hospitals has been steadily building an excellent team and significant resources over the past decade, with an excellent workplace culture and clinical leadership/visibility. A combination of local and NHSE funding has resulted in a well equipped and resourced service which needs a new consultant due to current and predicted service growth in both diagnostic imaging and therapies in Nuclear medicine.
Our team is building a research portfolio. We work closely with other specialties and offer opportunities to combine specialisms. We offer a forward-thinking approach to flexible working and portfolio careers.
Main duties of the job
Acute cover for the service including advice to the local team and queries from the wider clinical teams
Clinical reporting of acute scans in a timely manner
Clinical vetting of referrals into the service
General nuclear medicine and PET/CT diagnostic imaging
Support the therapies service and deliver therapies, including support for introducing new therapies
Supporting the wider team including the administrative team to effectively deliver patient care
Prepare and lead representation on at least one cancer MDT meeting
Work closely with the consultant body and the technologist group to effectively deliver patient care
Maintain and develop clinical skills to support current and future developments in the service
Participate actively in audit projects, peer review meetings and team meetings

- oFull GMC Registration
- oThe person must hold certificate of completion of training (CCT) in nuclear medicine, or be within 6 months (from interview date) of a CCT or is on a CESR pathway towards specialist registration.
- oMinimum of English Level 2 (GCSE grade C or equivalent), IELTS, or graduate of a UK Medical School
Desirable
- Postgraduate degree in nuclear medicine or a related medical field
- Working at consultant level for two or more years
