Job summary
This is a 10 PA substantive Consultant post in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with a special interest in high risk Obstetrics or maternal medicine. It is a replacement post for QEQM and forms part of our expansion in consultant numbers to improve services for our women and babies. The post-holder will need to demonstrate competence in core Obstetrics and Gynaecology to enable he/she to fulfil the role of a general obstetrician and gynaecologist. It would be an advantage to have skills in intermediate or advanced obstetric scanning. The consultant will be expected to participate in Intrapartum and elective Obstetrics to ensure provision of the hours of consultant presence as required by the RCOG. The post is for up to 12 months initially. There is funding and RCOG approval for this post to be substantive
There will be a regular on call session (1 in 15) as well as regular antenatal clinics and caesarean lists. There is a 1 in 15 on call commitment for gynaecology and elective gynaecology work is also available. Your job plan will contain 10 Programmed Activities per week consisting of 8 direct clinical care PA's and 2 supporting professional activity PA's. The precise length of Programmed Activities may vary from week to week around the average assessment set out in the Job Plan.
