Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Medical Secretary in the Vascular department. We are looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic highly motivated, hardworking individual to join a busy, friendly and dedicated team.

Main duties of the job

The job role will be varied. You will need to provide a wide range of comprehensive administrative and clerical duties to an expanding team of Vascular Consultants, Vascular Nurses and their teams. You will need to be reliable and hard working with excellent communication and IT skills. You will be expected to work as a team member but also as an individual using your own initiative.

Essential

  • Computer literate including Word and Excel and use of software packages e.g. outlook for updating calendars. NVQ Level 2, RSA level 3 or equivalent

Desirable

  • Previous NHS/medical secretary experience.

Skills

Essential

  • Experience of a range of secretarial procedures and practices with a base level of theoretical knowledge.
  • Experience of working for and within a team
  • Audio typing to 50 wpm minimum
  • Data entry, text processing, storage of data, numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational skills Ability to work without supervision

Desirable

  • Knowledge of NHS performance standards Previous PAS
  • Knowledge of NHS systems, including All Scripts
  • Previous experience working within a busy administrative environment.
