We are a leading Trust for use of technology. We are introducing electronic bed management and benefit from real-time reporting of up-to-date information for every patient, plus point of care testing. The Trust has 24/7 access to CT and stroke thrombolysis, and benefits from interventional radiology services in our sister hospital at Canterbury. William Harvey Hospital is the primary PCI hospital for Kent, and has trauma unit status. We are part of the top-performing South East London, Kent and Medway Trauma Network, with the local major trauma centre being King's College Hospital.
This is a 6 month, full time secondment post.
Main duties of the job
To support and report to the Deputy Head of Nursing in balancing the challenges of providing high quality, safe services, with excellent outcomes.
Support the Deputy Head of Nursing in the implementation, compliance, and embedding of the clinical governance and risk agenda within the division.
Implement the safety, quality and patient experience agenda ensuring the highest standards of clinical care by providing leadership and support to professional and direct care staff.
To provide professional nursing leadership to registered nurses and support staff within the division and develop the clinical leadership capability of senior sisters and charge nurses.
To be personally responsible and accountable for delivering a safe and clean care environment, in accordance with the Health and Social Care Act 2008.
To act as a role model and promote/ensure best practice in Infection Prevention and Control.
To ensure patients are treated with Dignity and Respect.
To provide a visible, accessible and authoritative clinical presence to enable staff, patients and their families access to assistance, advice and support.
To ensure effective use of the nursing resource including optimising vacancy management, managing sickness, and leading nursing workload benchmarking across the division.To maintain clinical credibility by spending a minimum of 50 per cent time in clinical practice within the department.
