Brabourne Ward have a vacancy for a full time chemotherapy development nurse specialising in Haematology nursing.
Brabourne have recently expanded to 8 beds. We provide excellent holistic, patient centred care for those undergoing treatment for a haematological malignancy. We also provide support for patients under the Haemophilia center As a team , we offer development opportunities including chemotherapy administration.
Cancer Care has a dedicated education team working across all 3 sites to assist in achieving this skill. We also have excellent links with ChristChurch University College for further development.
Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be able to communicate effectively with compassion and empathy and always working within their sphere of professional competence.
Brabourne provides 24 hour care and the shift patterns will include nights and weekends.
Staff are expected to provide personal care where required whilst promoting independence where appropriate. Training will be provided for specialist skills
Staff will act as an advocate for the patient and their families.
Staff are responsible for their own learning and education but will be fully supported by the team

Professional Leadership and clinical responsibilities
- Provide professional leadership, advice and guidance to junior nurses, HealthCare assistants and fostercollaborativepartnerships with other disciplines.
- Communicate effectively with patients and their relatives, ensuring accurate and seamless information is conveyed and documented.
- Assist in themaintenanceand monitoring of agreed standards, ensuring that any shortfall is brought to the attention of the line manager.
- Ensure that all quality initiatives within the ward environment areadhered to and that the highest standards of care are maintained at all times.
- Assist in the development of clinical protocols ensuring that these arereviewedin accordance with the needs of the service.
- Ensure that accurate and legible patient records are kept in line with professional and legal requirements.
- Promote and maintain effective working relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team.
Clinical
- Undertake nursing assessments competently
- Be responsible for the direct delivery of patient care by promoting excellent standards of clinical competence

- Participate in planning effective and timely admissions and discharges
