Job summary
The post holder will be part of the Women's Health ultrasound team in providing an effective and efficient ultrasound service.
The post holder will be responsible for planning and running their day to day list of patients.
The post holder will be required to carry out a wide range of complex clinical duties, acting on their own initiative, and using a wide range of professional, analytical and reasoning skills.
The post holder is an autonomous practitioner carrying out a wide range of complex examinations ( including obstetric, gynaecological and Early Pregnancy). They report these examinations without routine input from any other professional discipline. They are required to make decisions regarding follow-up scans to monitor conditions and also referral to the appropriate clinicians when necessary. These actions will be based on the findings of the ultrasound examinations.
The Sonographer is required to communicate highly sensitive information to patients and clinicians.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work alongside the current Nurse Sonographers and the Medical Leads. The service is a Nurse Led service with decision making an essential requirement with the opportunity to refer into medical Gynaecology service as neededTo manage and provide care for women in the process of medical and surgical treatment of Ectopic pregnancy and Termination of pregnancy for fetal anomaly.To carry out venepuncture, cannulation, administration of injections and drugs for medical management of ectopic pregnancy and miscarriage eg Mifepristone, Misoprostol and Methotrexate
