Job summary
We are looking for a Targeted Lung Health Check Nurse to join our team,
The TLHC Nurse will be a pivotal part of the multidisciplinary team and as they are likely to have been the patients first point of contact. Information regarding physical, social, financial and psychological needs is vital in supporting patients. They will also escalate any concerns or risks to the clinical team to ensure patient safety. The post holder will work closely with the Straight to test nurses and cancer navigators for lung to ensure delays in the pathway are minimised.
Main duties of the job
The overall purpose of the Targeted Lung Health Check (TLHC) Programme is to enable the early detection of lung cancer in order to save lives, improve early diagnosis and survival for those patients diagnosed with cancer. The TLHC programme targets those most at risk of lung cancer. The TLHC team are based at Buckland hospital and comprise of TLHC project lead, TLHC nurses, radiologists, respiratory physicians and administrators. East Kent Hospitals and the Kent and Medway Cancer Alliance has identified high disease and smoking prevalence areas within East Kent where a significant impact can be made from detecting early stage lung cancer, and in particular the South Kent Coast. The Team offer Lung Health Checks to patients between the ages of 55-75 with a history of smoking.
The post holder will be expected to be accessible, responsive, and provide specialist knowledge and care to the patient (and their carers where applicable). They will support community and secondary care colleagues in the effective management of patients with clinical responsibility for a defined patient group
