Job summary
Band 6 Occupational Therapy vacancy within the Therapy and discharge service (TADS) at the QEQM. This is an exciting opportunity to join the TADS team at the QEQM.
The team cover the emergency department, the acute admission units and also the urgent care area and the same day emergency care (SDEC) unit.
The team work very closely within a multidisciplinary team, supporting each other to ensure that patients are seen, assessed and discharge appropriately. The unit has dedicated discharge managers who are part of the therapy team supporting and advising on complex cases.
We have a close working relationship with our colleagues from the William Harvey hospital, and the TADS team are jointly managed alongside the Frailty assessment Units on both sites. There are opportunities to gain experience within the Frailty assessment unit if desired.
The post holder will be working within a team of therapist and overseen by a clinical lead occupational therapist.

Main duties of the job
The team see patients admitted to the Accident and Emergency Department at both the Acute Hospitals. The post holder will offer comprehensive assessment and treatment for patients referred for Occupational therapy and work as an essential part of the multi-disciplinary team to deliver therapy and support comprehensive discharge planning.
Main duties involve:
- To manage daily a clinical caseload of patients, and be responsible for the assessment, formulation and treatments and to give specialised therapy advice to members of the MDT.
- To deputise for Team Leader on clinical and managerial issues within the team
- To be actively involved with training within the Department in support of new graduate Occupational therapists, student therapists, therapy apprentices and support workers alongside other senior members of the team.
