Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen working in IT to support the Kent & Medway Cancer Collaborative with the continuing growth and development of the shared, county-wide, Cancer Information System.

The role is to act as an IT project manager, employed by EKHUFT as the host organisation, managing the scoping, development, delivery, training and handover, information governance and technical work between the regional and national stakeholders, the internal support and development team and the system suppliers.

Representing the Kent & Medway Cancer Collaborative, you will work closely with the NHS England Cancer Alliance, the local ICB and the member trusts.

EKHUFT have a dedicate team of technicians, who you will work closely with, supporting the Cancer Collaborative. This team undertake many of the support and development functions in conjunction with the supplier.

Whilst this is a regionally focussed role, you will be a member of, and have the support of, the wider IT Project Management team in EKHUFT and be line-managed by the IT Programme Manager. The team oversees a diverse and complex range of projects. These projects deliver key clinical, non-clinical systems and infrastructure that support the delivery of high-quality services for both staff and patients alike.

The candidate must be able to work on large projects however also be adaptable to complete small work packages. The candidate must comply with the established Project Management processes and procedures.

Main duties of the job

In addition to the standard duties of an IT Project Manager the role has the following key duties.

  • Maintaining and presenting a highlight report to the monthly Cancer Digital Transformation Board.
  • Presenting the highlight report to the Technical and Operational Steering Group (TOSG)
  • Attending the suppliers weekly project meetings with the application and development managers.
  • Attending weekly project meetings with the NHS England Living with and Beyond Cancer (LWBC) manager.

A future part of the role will involve managing the IT aspects of a competitive tender process for the countywide Cancer Information System.
