Specialist Nurse Children's Safeguarding Band 7 - part time 22.5 hours per week

Are you an enthusiastic and motivated individual with interest and experience of safeguarding children?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified and experienced nurse to join a dynamic and progressive Safeguarding Team at Epsom & St Helier Hospitals, NHS Trust. The successful applicant will provide specialist support within the Trust in line with local and National guidelines

The role involves Working closely with the Lead Nurse for Safeguarding Children , Named Doctor for Safeguarding Children, Associate Director of Nursing Safeguarding Children & Adults/CLA and the Wider Safeguarding Team and clinical teams to ensure that the Trust's statutory responsibilities to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, young people and their families. The post holder will ensure that staff can access advice, supervision, support and training, in relation to safeguarding children in a timely manner. Promoting a positive culture of safeguarding within the Trust to ensure it is part of everyone's everyday practice.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide specialist information, advice, supervision, training and support on safeguarding issues to staff at all levels within the organisation.
  • Assist the Trust and staff in their duty to protect children and young people at risk from harm and abuse.
  • Contribute to the on-going development of a robust strategy for the Safeguarding Team in response to the demonstrated need of the children and young people using the Trust services, and to the directives of national and local safeguarding initiatives.
  • Assist in developing robust clinical governance and quality assurance systems to monitor and evaluate safeguarding children practices across the Trust.
  • Support the Safeguarding Children's Team, Safeguarding Practice Educator, Learning and Development Team and other agencies to further develop and fully implement an agreed strategy for safeguarding children training - delivering a robust and flexible training programme.
  • Assist the Lead Nurse Safeguarding Children in providing reports, including Safeguarding Practice Reviews for children and participating in whichever methodology is agreed by the Local Children's Safeguarding Partnerships.
  • Work collaboratively within the organisation, across agencies and with children and young people to form partnerships and working arrangements that promote safeguarding.
