Senior Clinical Fellow in General Paediatrics

Job summary
The post holder will be a part of the Middle Grade Paediatric team, taking part in the on-call and out of hours rota as part of a full shift system that is fully EWTD-compliant.
During this post the successful applicant will gain a range of experience in the General Paediatrics Ward, Paediatric A&E, the Paediatric Day Case Unit and neonatology.
An attending system is operated at EGH where each week a Consultant is responsible for all acute paediatric and neonatal admissions and performs a twice daily ward round. This provides continuity as well as direct support and training for the middle grade staff. There is Consultant cover on site until 10pm daily based in PED.
The post-holder will opportunity to attend general and specialist outpatient clinics. They will also be expected to take part in some scheduled clinics, directly supported and supervised by a Consultant.
In addition the post holder will have access to the full range of Educational and Training opportunities available to all current middle grade staff, including a dedicated weekly Teaching afternoon, journal club and x ray meeting and perinatal meetings. There are 3 monthly Audit half day across the Department, when clinics are cancelled to enable attendance, Mortality & Morbidity meetings and Safeguarding peer reviews. Furthermore the trainee will attend simulation training including high-fidelity simulation in paediatrics and neonatology within the dedicated ASPiH accredited Simulation Centre at the Epsom site.
Main duties of the job
The principal duty of this post is to provide a comprehensive clinical service to patients.
1. To at all times, comply with the GMC's guidance on 'Good Medical Practice' as amended or substituted from time to time.
2. To ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained at all times.
3. To undertake duties as defined within the attached job plan in so far as practicable and in agreement with your Clinical Supervisor(s).
4. To be responsible and managerially accountable for the reasonable and effective use of Trust resources that you use and influence, and professionally accountable to the Medical Director.
5. On commencement to ensure personal attendance at the Trust's corporate Induction.
6. To participate in the Trust's Statutory & Mandatory training programme.
7. To be responsible for the Clinical Management of in and out patients under your care.
