Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 midwife to have the opportunity to work alongside and support our band 7 bereavement midwife.
You will be expected to work closely alongside the Band 7 Bereavement midwife in helping to provide care for our bereaved parents, and those experiencing pregnancy after loss.
The post holder will be expected to work23 hours per week in this role. This role will involve working flexibly across our two sites.
The post holder will require a driving licence and have access to their own transport as providing community care to bereaved parents will be a key part of this role.
Main duties of the job
Work alongside the Band 7 bereavement midwife to support families that are bereaved or have experienced loss
Work alongside other staff members to ensure that bereavement care is provided appropriately and with sensitivity
Case loading women/birthing people who may need extra support following previous pregnancy loss and/or significant bereavement
Conducting home visits for case loaded women/birthing people if required
Participate in PMRT and case review panels Child Death Review panel
Participate in liaising with the MDT regarding cases in the antenatal period
Liaising with multiple external agencies following the death of a baby or mother
Support women/birthing people who have had any bereavement during their pregnancy and postnatal period
Work alongside the Band 7 bereavement midwife to help develop policies and guidelines that impact this area
Provide support to staff caring for bereaved parents, including debriefing and signposting to necessary services
Review and consult on all bereavement cases with the relevant staff when needed
Provide practical bereavement support e.g. ordering supplies, maintaining stock levels etc Updating paperwork
