Come and join our expanding cardiology service. On our cardiology day ward, we currently offer angiography and device implant and will be developing a PCI and an EP / Ablation service. The role includes pre op. care, recovering patients post procedure and working within the catheter lab itself! You will have had experience within an acute cardiology setting and be enthusiastic to learn and to develop new clinical skills. If you are an experienced nurse with a cardiology background with sound ECG knowledge, we need you!

You must enjoy working in a busy environment and be a true team player. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential. The role will also involve rotating into our cardiology investigation department when required.

Training will be provided to support your Cath Lab/Cardiology career with specific competencies to support your professional development.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide excellent clinical care to those patients pre and post cardiac procedures, including diagnostic coronary angiogram, permanent pacemakers, PCI, ablations and complex devices. The post holder will work with the consultants, support the ward manager and assist in the line management of junior team members.

The post holder will be expected to work within the catheter lab itself as a circulating nurse, and may be required to scrub in. The nurse will be the patient advocate during the procedure and will assist the members of the multidisciplinary team as requested.

The post holder will ensure that high quality nursing care is delivered within the cardiology day ward. You may be required to work in other areas within the cardiology directorate according to service needs.
