Job summary

We are currently looking to recruit a Substantive Consultant Community / Neurodevelopmental Paediatrician at Epsom, Surrey, to help deliver our service in the north of Surrey. The post is a direct replacement of a current substantive post as the previous post-holder is relocating. The post will be based at Epsom General Hospital but the post holder may be required to work at other sites as required. Epsom Hospital has an integrated paediatric service with acute and community paediatrics on the same site.

The successful applicant will deliver community paediatric clinics including neurodevelopmental clinics and multidisciplinary clinics for those with cerebral palsy.

The successful applicant will play a crucial role in ensuring the team continues to deliver a high quality paediatric service. There is no acute or on call component for this post.

As an organisation we are committed to develop our services in a collaborative manner with the local authorities, in ways that best suit the needs of our patients.

The post holder will join a team of 20 Paediatric Consultants and 1 Associate Specialist along with junior and middle grade doctors on rotation. There is a paediatric trainee allocated to the neurodevelopmental team.

Clinical Duties:

The post holder will deliver community paediatric clinics including neurodevelopmental clinics and multidisciplinary clinics for those with cerebral palsy. The clinics will mainly be held at Epsom General Hospital within the children's outpatient department but the post holder could be required to work at other sites if required.

Specifically, the role will include:

Neurodevelopmental paediatric clinics including assessment, diagnosis and management of those with developmental delay, ASD, ADHD and DCD;

Neurodisability clinics including multidisciplinary clinics for those with cerebral palsy;

Educational paediatrics including preparing medical advice for EHCP assessments;

graduate training of Specialist Trainees in Paediatrics at all levels. Additionally, FY2, and GP trainees rotate through the department.

Management & Governance

15. To be responsible for the management, appraisal and discipline of junior doctors who are attached to you, after taking appropriate advice.

16. To provide advice, as required to the Executive and Trust board, General Practitioners and other interested parties, on the provision of planning of clinical services locally, regionally and nationally in keeping with confidentiality agreements relating to Trust business.

17. To co-operate in the present framework agreement of management arrangements.

18. To fully participate in Clinical Governance arrangements across the Trust including participation in clinical audit, research (where appropriate), pursuing an agreed agenda with colleagues and the Trust Board and fully co-operating in implementing the results in order to achieve best practice.
