The fellow will work with all the knee and hip surgeons at SWLEOC. All surgeons are highly experienced surgeons and care for a wide range of adult hip and knee conditions

Main duties of the job

The timetable consists of supervised operating and training in complex procedures, along with the potential of unsupervised lists of more straightforward cases. Other duties include outpatient clinics and caring for the Orthopaedic management of ward patients.

About us

The South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC) is an NHS Treatment centre serving a population of approximately 1.5 Million and undertakes over 4000 primary and revision hip and knee replacements per annum. The centre also performs significant numbers of shoulder, elbow, spinal, foot, soft tissue and arthroscopic hip procedures. It is located on the Epsom Hospital campus and is attended by 52 visiting Surgeons from St George's, Kingston, Croydon University, Epsom and St Helier Hospitals. In addition to two 27 bed wards there is a 17 bed Post Anaesthetic Care Unit (PACU) with 24/7, on-site, Consultant Intensivist cover. There are 6 operating theatres, one of which has an inbuilt navigation system.

The centre has established an active and rapidly expanding research programme, demonstrated by significant numbers of publications in peer-reviewed journals, and an increasing number of collaborations with academic institutions.
