Applications are invited for a 10 PA Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with a special interest in Fetal Monitoring and Maternal Medicine.
This post offers an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, to work within an established team of 32 Consultants at the Trust.
The role is cross-site across the 2 sites of Epsom and St Helier Hospitals. The on-call commitments for obstetrics will be at the St Helier site with a 1:3 cover.
Main duties of the job
The role is multi-site for all activities, except acute obstetric on-calls which will be based at St. Helier Hospital, although there will also be requirements to work at Epsom Hospital, and when the new hospital is built at Sutton, acute work will be undertaken at the Sutton site. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in fetal monitoring training and maternal medicine delivery. In addition, they will provide consultant led Labour Ward.
The trust is the regional maternal medicine centre covering Southwest London and Surrey heartlands. This offers an opportunity to work in large multidisciplinary teams caring for high-risk cases in maternal medicine.
The trust has a consistent 7 day working on labour ward and cross site working for all members of staff. The Trust also has a consultant of the week to exclusively cover emergency care in gynaecology at the St. Helier's site. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in Obstetrics emergency care only.
The new Consultant will also have shared workload in supervision and training junior doctors in the Labour Ward, antenatal/postnatal and emergency care.
On the horizon is the very exciting development and investment in a brand new, specialist emergency care hospital in Sutton and the modernisation of both Epsom and St Helier hospitals.
