Job summary
The Head of Charity will be responsible for day-to-day operation of the charity and will work with the site leadership team and Charitable Funds Committee to raise funds and distribute budgets in an effective and timely way. The successful candidate will also enable patients, families, and our community to give back to their local hospital and ensure that the money is spent with impact and evaluation.
This is a strategic role with the Head of Charity responsible for leading and managing all charitable activities that support improvements in care including fundraising and grant giving with the support of the communications team. This is a senior role with the post holder responsible for using their initiative to maximise fundraising opportunities that support our staff and patients and ensure funds are spent appropriately within relevant timelines to improve care for patients and the working lives of our staff.

Main duties of the job
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the charity's strategic plan.
- Lead and manage fundraising activities of the charity, including donor relationships, corporate partnerships, events, and individual giving.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders
- Lead development and delivery of the charity's marketing and communications strategy, including digital and social media.
- Manage the charity budget for the Trust
- Acting as the Trust's expert, manage the day-to-day operations of the charity, including financial management, compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and day to day oversight of staff and volunteers involved with charity work.
- To lead in delivering the charity's mission of raising and using charitable funds to benefit patients, support staff and improve facilities.
- Represent the charity externally, acting as a spokesperson and ambassador for the organisation at internal and external events.
- Work closely with the Trust's staff and other stakeholders to identify projects suitable for charitable funding and which can be packaged attractively and appropriately for a range of donors.
- Responsible for ensuring that work across fundraising, marketing and communications is well integrated with the hospital teams and is innovative.
- Ensure that approaches taken in fundraising meet best practice, regulatory requirements, internal processes, and full records are maintained of decisions.

The much-loved ESTH Charity supports our staff, helping to provide vital funds to enhance the care we provide to our patients: In the last year the charity allocated funds to purchase new equipment including Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory at Epsom Hospital and spent significant funds on staff education, staff welfare and on providing improved facilities for parents and carers who visit our hospitals.
