Job summary

Applications are invited for a 6 PA consultant to Support the SWL London Local Maternity and Neonatal System (LMNS) and Integrated Care System (ICS) in the development and delivery of a Maternal Medicine Network.

Ensure systems are in place to allow women living in SWL and Surrey Heartlands footprint with significant medical problems will receive appropriate and timely high-quality evidence-based specialist advice and care before, during and after pregnancy.

Provide clear clinical leadership on using innovative approaches and aligning tools and levers to support the improvement of outcomes for patients and drive up the quality of care.

Main duties of the job

The physician should have completed or near to complete a pre or post CCT RCP credential in Obstetric Medicine or have undergone specific training in Obstetric Medicine within an established Obstetric medicine service.

The successful applicant is expected to deliver the service in all the network hospitals remotely as well in person in outreach clinics.

The successful applicant is expected to work closely with the other Co-Lead obstetric physician.

The successful applicant is expected to have the main base within the Hub with at least 1 day (2 PAs) in Croydon University Hospital and 1 PA to cover Surrey Heartlands by doing 1 clinic per week (alternating among the Surrey Heartlands hospitals on once-a-month rota for each of one of St Peter's, East Surrey, Royal Surrey and Epsom).

Working as a consultant in Obstetric Medicine will include direct delivery of the care of pregnant women with medical problems in both the in-patient and out-patient setting. This will involve multi-disciplinary preconception, antenatal and post-natal clinics, rapid access service for pregnant women with medical problems and management of maternal medicine inpatients.

The post holder will coordinate a mechanism to provide advice to other physicians, obstetricians, general practitioners, and other health care professionals throughout the maternal medicine network.
