To act as the day to day designated deputy for the
Children’s Ward.

Clinical Responsibilities
- Demonstrate
clinical expertise and act as a professional role model.
- Continuously
develop clinical skills to meet the needs of the patients within your
care.
- Monitor
and evaluate standards of care in conjunction with senior nursing staff.
- Assist
the senior team in the implementation of clinical governance within the
clinical area.
Management Responsibility/Professional Leadership
- Be
responsible for the management and co-ordination of the clinical area
during a span of duty, referring to the Junior/Senior Sister as necessary.
- In
collaboration with senior staff provide professional leadership to all
staff and students.
- Promote
and maintain positive working relationships between all groups involved in
the welfare of the patient.
- In
accordance with agreed policy, promote the health and safety of patients,
staff and visitors to the clinical environment.
- Be
conversant with and ensure that all staff act within the Trust Policies
and Procedures.
- Assist
with the support, guidance and development of a group of staff of varying
abilities.
- Assist
with the maintenance of a suitable learning environment, undertaking
formal and informal teaching of all staff on a regular basis.
- In
liaison with senior staff, assist in the development of evidence based
policies and procedures, and undertake an active role in nursing research.
· To actively participate in the process of clinical risk
management and clinical governance

personal responsibility for own growth, and keep up to date with
professional issues and research in relation to the speciality.
