Job summary

To improve the mental health of people within Weston, Worle and Villages by undertaking specialised psychological assessments, contributing to bespoke clinical formulations, delivering structured, evidence-based and psychologically informed interventions.

Main duties of the job

  • To work autonomously on a day-to-day basis, under supervision and direction from a registered Practitioner Psychologist and within the scope of practice for the role.
  • To work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing training, team support and supervision.
  • To act as Key Worker or equivalent for a defined caseload for whom you are providing the main psychological intervention.
  • To work within a psychological and trauma informed service provision model as a semi autonomous practitioner.

To work with complex clients as routine if appropriate to the service. Highly complex clients to be discussed with clinical supervisors/psychologist or line managers.

Communicate clearly and empathetically to clients, families and carers.

Communicate formulations and information professionally, sensitively and diplomatically frequently in a highly emotive atmosphere to clients, relatives, carers and other healthcare professionals.

To communicate confidential and highly complex personal information concerning psychological needs, obtained through assessments and interventions, to referring agents and to the client themselves.

To ensure that risk is assessed and managed following Trust policies and procedures.

To provide evidence based psychologically informed interventions (individual and group) e.g. CBT or third wave CBT interventions as appropriate to your skills and training.

Maintenance of high quality clinical records working in accordance with Trust policy and procedures.

To offer reflective practice and system support to MDT and colleagues as appropriate.

To inform and support families and carers as appropriate to the role.

To follow a person-focused and evidence-based approach.
