Job summary
This is a development role within the Health and Safety Team, supporting the organisation in maintaining its Health and Safety requirements. The post holder must be willing to complete the NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health and to gain a range of Health and Safety Advisor competencies. Once qualified and suitably experienced, the post holder will be eligible to be considered for a Band 6 Health and Safety Advisor role.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to assist with the delivery of health and safety support across all areas of the Trust. This will include providing support to a range of services and managers to maintain compliance with policies and procedures, undertake incident investigations, and promote a positive health and safety culture.
The post holder will be working in a fast-paced environment that must respond quickly to organisational risks and operational demands. They must be an effective communicator and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills.

The post holder will support managers, staff and the Health & Safety Team to ensure the effective delivery of the following key functions:

Incident investigation and incident data analysis.

Monitoring key performance indicators.

Providing health and safety advice to staff, service users, contractors and members of the public.

Health and safety auditing and monitoring at both local and Trust-wide levels, and devising and monitoring resulting action plans.

Undertaking and advising on statutory risk assessments, and completing specialist assessments as required.

Promoting health and safety across the Trust.

Supporting the Health & Safety Manager and Health and Safety Advisors in the investigation of employer liability and public liability claims.

Contributing to the development of high levels of health and safety awareness across all service areas.

Undertaking workplace assessments in support of HR and Occupational Health.

Supporting the provision of health and safety advice relating to estates issues, including new buildings, refurbishments and existing facilities.

Liaising with FM user groups.

Maintaining strict confidentiality at all times regarding matters relating to service users and staff.

Reviewing reported incidents on the Ulysses system and analysing statistics to inform risk assessments and reports.
