The Trust is seeking a Later Life consultant psychiatrist to join the North Bristol Assessment and Recovery Team.

The consultant will provide clinical advice and leadership for North Later Life Team seeing patients with functional illness.

The consultant will work collaboratively with memory services that are currently provided by another mental health trust in Bristol.

Main duties of the job

The Consultant will deliver direct interventions, including emergency assessment, to service users at a level of intensity according to need, including those service users who require an assertive approach.

This will include on-going assessment, diagnoses (including review and clarification) and treatment of mental and physical health needs.

Provide visible and clear leadership at team level.

Supervision for the medical team, non-medical prescribers and trainees.

The Consultant will take medical responsibility for the patients on the team's caseload, including acting as RC for older adult service users, they should participate in MHA assessments where appropriate.

The post holder will be expected to be a key player in the development of the service. The post holder will be expected to provide medical leadership and participate in strategic development within the service.

  • MB BS or equivalent medical qualification

Desirable

  • Relevant Higher Degree e.g MD,PHD,Msc or other additional clinical qualifications
  • MRCPsych OR MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.
