Band 4 Assistant Psychologist - Devizes

The closing date is 25 August 2025

Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, flexible and dynamic psychology graduate, with clinical experience in mental health services, to join our dementia services in Wiltshire. The role offers ample opportunity to those seeking clinical experience of work with older people and/or wishing to broaden their neuropsychology experience. Clinical psychology is an essential and highly valued part of these dedicated and knowledgeable multi-disciplinary teams.

The role requires a good working knowledge of mental health and neurological problems commonly experienced by older people. Direct clinical work will include assessment, rehabilitation and therapies with individuals, families and involvement with wider social networks. You will work in a team of highly skilled clinicians who provide rapid and specialist advice on person-centred care planning, and the delivery of specialist mental health and dementia care.

Main duties of the job

The Care Home Liaison (CHL) and Dementia Complex Intervention (DCIT) teams which form part of our Wiltshire Dementia Service, have been developed to support service users and their families, care home staff, and clinicians, to enhance the care delivery to older people experiencing mental and physical health problems and dementia. The role will involve opportunities to provide psychosocial assessment, formulation and intervention within established multi-disciplinary teams.

The Memory Assessment Service (MAS), which is also part of our Dementia Service, provides direct clinical work in neuropsychological assessment to aid diagnosis and intervention.

Travel is a core part of the job as the post is Wiltshire-wide. It is essential that you are able to get from your base to meetings and appointments.

Our ethos is for every member of the team to grow as a clinician, and to be supported to maintain their wellbeing in both life and in work. Clinical supervision is provided by experienced senior clinical psychologists. We meet regularly for supervision, complex case discussions, as well as with the wider professional group across AWP.

Formal development and training opportunities are available. We have close links with the DClinPsy training course at the University of Bath, accepting trainees and delivering teaching on the curriculum, and supporting recruitment and selection onto the course.
