Job summary

To deliver high quality positive behaviour support assessment and intervention to children and young people with learning disability and their families.

Main duties of the job

  • To carry out functional behavioural assessments and analyses and other psychological assessments within a Positive Behaviour Support framework with a high level of autonomy as delegated and under supervision
  • To carry out risk assessments for children and young people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour and their careers as delegated and under supervision
  • Produce behavioural assessment reports as delegated and under supervision
  • Construct and regularly update behaviour support plans and protocols as delegated and under supervision
  • To work directly with children and young people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour and their carers and provider agencies to support effective implementation of behaviour support plans as delegated and under supervision
  • To work directly with children and young people with learning disabilities and challenging behaviour to assess their skills, develop skills building programmes and implement these as delegated and under supervision
  • To gather and analyse data regarding the effectiveness of positive behaviour support interventions and produce reports on this data using packages such as Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • To contribute to monitoring team performance via the Period Service Review
  • The post holder will be willing and able to work between 7am and 7pm as needed

To implement individual therapeutic and skills building interventions as delegated under clinical supervision.

To contribute to group therapeutic interventions as delegated under clinical supervision.

To support senior clinicians in preparing material for psychological assessments and individual and group therapeutic interventions.

Ensure contemporaneous records are maintained.

Promote a team approach to care within a multi-disciplinary framework, involving liaison and effective communication of confidential and sensitive information with other statutory and voluntary agencies.

Ensure that the Intensive Positive Behaviour Support Service develops in line with CCHP/AWP core values and outcomes, whilst following government recommendations and public health initiatives.

To ensure the legal frameworks relevant to work undertaken within CCHP Learning Disability CAMHS are adhered to and followed

To provide liaison, training and support to other external professionals under clinical supervision.

To support and work closely with colleagues and other professionals working at different levels.

To participate in training and education programmes as required.

To exercise awareness of professional responsibilities by making time to study current relative literature and continuing professional development.

To participate in Clinical Governance including standard setting and audit as required.

To be familiar with current Trust policies and procedures and participate in the development of new policies procedures and guidelines as required.

To contribute to service development initiatives as required

Teaching and Training

To prepare teaching materials for the provision of training to other professional staff and agencies as delegated within iPBS.

To assist in the delivery of training in the use of psychological approaches to other professional staff and agencies as delegated within iPBS.

Essential

  • Evidence of completion of significant CPD in Positive Behaviour Support and/or Applied Behavioural Analysis
  • The post holder is required to have demonstrated a good level of academic success either with qualifications at Bachelors Level 2:1 or higher in a related field such as psychology or through a related professional qualification such as Learning Disability Nursing or Behaviour Analysis
  • Significant post qualification experience in using the Positive Behaviour Support framework and/or Applied Behavioural Analysis with children and young people with learning disabilities and their carers.
  • Ability to communicate and relate effectively with children, young people and their families, adults and colleagues, using a variety of communication systems and techniques including de-escalation
