Band 6 Inpatient Charge Nurse Eating Disorders

An exciting career opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic RMN/LD to join the STEPS Eating Disorders Inpatient Team as a Band 6 Charge Nurse on our 10 bedded standalone unit at Acer Unit, Blackberry Hill Hospital in Bristol.

You should have Substantial experience working as a Band 5 RMN/LD and have some experience or knowledge in working with the eating disorders client group. It is desirable that you are enthusiastic and motivated to work with eating disorders. You should be able to demonstrate effective leadership and management skills in a clinical area, providing clear clinical leadership to Staff Nurses and Support workers working on the ward. You will need to demonstrate effectiveness in ensuring the continuity of care for service users and full implementation of Trust policies.

You will have an opportunity to take responsibility for specific "management duties" within the ward, and you will be expected to provide general management in the absence of the Ward Manager.Support will be given by the ward manager and we have brilliant supervision structures in place. Through this support there is the opportunity to develop specialist knowledge in eating disorders, and in your role as a Charge nurse.

Main duties of the job

To inspire, lead and provide clear leadership to those working on the ward, enabling service delivery of the highest quality, ensuring that people who have an Eating Disorder are provided with a quality,person centered approach to care delivery, which always considers people's safety, privacy and dignity.

To work within a multi-professional team in an inpatient setting, providing, support, care, and treatment to individuals, within guidelines and protocols identified. Managing the development and practice of aset of therapeutic care skills, making a significant contribution to service users' psychological, emotional and social wellbeing.

Overseeing that the service provided enables patients to reach their optimum level of independence, take responsibility for ensuring individuals and their relatives receive care that prioritises safety,effectiveness, partnership and hope. To provide enhanced support to our service users who often have complex needs as expected from a specialised service.

To be a senior leader on the unit taking responsibility for coaching and supervising team, utilising the best use of resources ensuring the care and treatment activities delivered are safe, effective, caring andresponsive to the needs and preferences of service users and carers. The role integrates aspects of clinical management, employee support, clinical leadership and accountability.
