Job summary

Are you a qualified Pharmacy Assistant with a passion ensuring cost effective and safe use of medicines?

An opportunity has arisen for someone to join our motivated, friendly and forward thinking team supporting the procurement and supply of medicines from our Calne dispensary hub. We are seeking an individual who is enthusiastic about improving the lives of those living with mental health issues. Previous experience in secondary care pharmacy services is not essential, however, experience overseeing the medicine supply chain will be beneficial. The successful candidate as you will be provided with competency based training and support to help you expand on your knowledge and experience.

Working hours are 8.30am until 5pm Monday to Friday, with an occasional commitment to the Saturday and bank holiday rotas. Working hours for weekends and bank holidays are 10am-1pm.

Main duties of the job

1. To ensure continuity of supply for stock, including unavailable contract lines and products with short/long term manufacturing issues

2. Manage off-contract claims made against suppliers who cannot supply stock in-line with CMU contracts.

3. Manage Purchase Orders, Delivery Notes and Invoice records to ensure that the appropriate paperwork is completed promptly and accurately

4. To participate in regular stock check, checking on a regular basis the expiry dates of stock held in the dispensary or stores

5. Manage levels of consumables and reorder stock

6. Deal with routine queries; both face to face and over the telephone/email; resolving problems within the limits of own authority with internal and external staff

7. The post holder will be expected to have the skills to make judgments, within their responsibility, and know when to refer to a senior member of the team to ensure safe service delivery
