Clinical Director for:

BANES, Swindon and Wiltshire

Either substantive or 12 months acting up / secondment

Medical Grade or Agenda for Change Band 8D

The Chief Operating Officer, Mathew Page, would welcome hearing from senior clinicians who would be interested in applying for the role of Clinical Director, either as a substantive appointment or for internal candidates the opportunity to try the role out on an acting up / secondment arrangement.

The role would be fully supported through the usual range of supervision and appraisal which will be accompanied by a bespoke package agreed with the successful candidate.

The leadership structure has recently changed. The Clinical Director now has 3 key roles reporting to them: Divisional Director of Nursing, Divisional Director of Operations and Divisional Medical Director. This strengthened team will be expected to lead on the delivery of

The Clinical Director will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer, be a member of the extended executive team and attend board committees as required. Mathew is looking for colleagues who are fundamentally committed to improving the situation of individual patients every day of the week as well as being able to see the impact on people of service change and other decisions that are made.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidates will understand the need for system leadership and be able to live with uncertainty. The role requires thinking at a strategic level, overseeing large scale and long term change, and at the same time having the eye for detail that will mean the board gets reliable assurance on the services.

Enquiries are welcome from any professionally registered colleagues from all Health and Social Care backgrounds. The role is fulltime and will include clinical work appropriate to the background of candidates based on negotiation of time and job plans, this may be up to one day per week.

Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire (East) Division

The three delivery units in this division provide all of the services for adults with mental health issues. Whether its Talking Therapies (IAPT), community services or inpatient, all are currently under development as we respond to a range of change requirements.

Potentially the biggest task of the moment is our programme to transform all of our community services in line with the Community Mental Health Framework. This work is well underway and will need significant leadership to see it to completion and sustain service quality in the long term.

External to our Trust our integrated care system is divided in line with the three local authority areas. As these new entities emerge we will need to continue the work to build effective relationships which ensure we deliver what our communities need.

Qualified Clinician maintaining professional registration
Educated to Masters Level or equivalent experience / competence
Management qualification or equivalent experience / competence
Evidence of continued professional development
Experience of working in partnership to ensure success in contract and Local Delivery Plan negotiations with commissioners, social care, criminal justice services, statutory and non-statutory agencies
Experience of delivering substantial service change and updating Trust Boards, Joint Commissioning Board and Scrutiny Committee on progress and delivering to agreed objectives

Desirable

Experience of senior management in another service sector e.g. Commercial or Charitable
