Job summary
An opportunity has arisen to join the dynamic pharmacy team at Avon & Wiltshire Partnership Mental Health Trust as Lead Pharmacist for Medicines Optimisation and Physical Health.
The role focuses on formulary management (including monitoring medicines expenditure) and medicines governance within the wider Trust governance structure, as well as collaborating with the physical healthcare team around this important aspect of patient care. The management of physical health conditions as part of mental health recovery is a key priority for the Trust.
We are seeking a self-motivated, enthusiastic pharmacist who can help bridge the gap between governance and front line clinical and operational services. We would welcome applications from candidates who have developed clinical pharmacy, formulary and governance skills in settings other than mental health, as well as those with broader mental health experience.
The pharmacy team will support the successful candidate in further development of specialist knowledge, through external courses and internal training opportunities, including the non-medical prescribing qualification. The post holder will work with senior staff within and outside the department, and so the post provides an ideal opportunity for a someone keen to develop in a strategic role.
The base for this post can be flexible across the geography of the Trust, however, there will be a need to attend meetings and visit clinical sites across the Trust on a regular basis.
Main duties of the job
The main purpose of this role to oversee the good governance of medicines use within the trust. This will include the oversight of the formulary, professional leadership of the dispensary services, oversight of clinical trial activity, support the Trust physical health agenda, and managing the review and updates of medicines procedures and guidelines.
The post will also include professional support for our two dispensaries, supplementing the operational management provided by our lead technician.
The base for this post can be flexible across the geography of the Trust, however, there will be a need to attend meetings and visit clinical sites across the Trust on a regular basis, notably the pharmacy dispensary at Calne (SN11 9PR).
