Job summary

The Lead Nurse for Inpatient Practice establishes and fosters an effective working relationship with multi-disciplinary colleagues from the Locality teams and corporate colleagues across the Trust, to implement and embed Safer Staffing and professional standards into practice.

The post holder is a key clinical leader, utilising their negotiating and influencing skills to secure and support change and improvement in care and service delivery.

The post holder offers a flexible and consultancy based approach when leading on the interpretation and implementation of national policy enabling the Localities to respond appropriately to achieve strategic objectives.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will:

  • Lead on safer staffing with support from the Head of Nursing
  • Review inpatient care packages and current inpatient rehabilitation services to inform strategic development plans
  • Lead outcome focused projects researching the best way to secure service improvements
  • Actively support the Head of Nursing to provide senior professional leadership.

  • Registered nurse (RMN)
  • Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level.
  • Evidence of ongoing, relevant professional development

Desirable

  • Safer staffing qualification or a willingness to work towards achieving this.

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • Proven experience in development and implementation of corporate and professional strategies
  • An understanding of the broader agenda facing inpatient services and the ability to facilitate and drive forwards change in practice.
  • Experience of leading projects/programme that have demonstrated improvements in outcomes
  • Experience of working in a senior nursing role.
  • Ability to manage and deliver to deadlines and within resources
