Job summary

A vacancy has arisen for a Modern Matron in Bristol Inpatients in AWP.

Inpatients has a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care, with developing innovations such as training - Working Therapeutically on Wards, physical health initiatives and Gender specific work. We work closely with SARI (Stand against racism and inequality) and other partners.

We are constantly developing services and in the next few years the Place of Safety and Oakwood ward will move to Callington Road site from Southmead Hospital.. We are committed to developing and addressing CQC to ensure sustainable services and the Service user is at the Heart of any work.

We are looking for a dynamic, experienced nurse who would like to be part of a developing team / service. Using your experiences for you to develop and be part of an enthusiastic group.

Main duties of the job

The main duties of this role are outlined in the attached job description.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate strong leadership, managerial, and role modelling across the nursing teams. They will act as a clinical support and advisor to the multi-disciplinary team, particularly on matters of Nursing.

The Matron will provide a clinical presence and will support Ward Managers and Charge Nurses in the development of nursing within Bristol, thus ensuring the provision of safe and effective nursing care for service users. They will also lead on various initiatives and projects across the service and work closely with other services.

Clinical Practice ManagementTo act as a Clinical Leader with continuing clinical responsibility within the designated clinical areas, ensuring that services provide high quality evidence-based nursing assessment, care planning, interventions and evaluations for patients. This will include:

Confidential, sensitive and comprehensive, person-centred mental health nursing assessment that includes a Risk Assessment and ICPA/SAP to people who present with mental health problems.
