Job summary

Exciting opportunity to join one of the inpatient teams based in Swindon.

We are very proud of our amazing staff, supporting people with mental health issues across the region. We are looking for new colleagues, with a passion for helping people, to join us as a Healthcare Support Workers in our team based at Liddington Ward, Victoria Centre and Applewood, Sandalwood Court. To assist with the support, care and treatment of service users within designated clinical areas. To assist in the maintenance of a safe therapeutic environment beneficial to the needs of the service users, relatives carers and others. Contribute to the team approach to patient care, providing accurate and relevant feedback to registered staff and named nurses: participate in team discussions and meetings regarding care of service users. Participate in the application of care plans and risk management, ensuring interventions and observations are communicated effectively to MDT.

Liddington ward is a 14 bedded Acute Assessment unit, for Older Adults who have a range of organic illnesses, such as Alzheimer's Disease and other forms of Dementia.

Our goal is to enable individuals to live well with Dementia during this difficult chapter of lives.

Applewood is a 15 bedded Male Acute ward for Adults of Working age with a range of Mental illnesses, such as Schizophrenia, Bipolar.

The goal of Applewood is to build a therapeutic relationship to treat male service users at the acute phase of their illness.

Main duties of the job

At Liddington ward and Applewood, we deliver person-centered care You will be working alongside registered nurses and a wider multi-disciplinary team to offer holistic support, contributing to patient's psychological, physical, emotional and social wellbeing. You will have good IT skills, and use these to record daily notes and ongoing assessments In return, you will be offered a unique opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge within an acute admission ward for people with dementia. You will receive training to complete the NHS Care Certificate and a Level 3 Healthcare apprenticeship. If you have some experience of caring work already that would be great - but if not, we will support you to develop the skills and experience needed. You will be offered monthly supervision, with a specific focus on your health and wellbeing, in addition to any developmental requests.
