Job summary

This is a short notice advert for a training post which commences on 27th November. The successful applicant will be required to attend one week's full training online on the week commencing Monday 27th November 2023 and may therefore be required to take leave from their existing post in order to attend this. In the event that this occurs, leave will be repaid at a point of your choosing once you have started in post.

This is an exciting new opportunity train as a DBT Therapist, undertaking an intensive two year training programme. The role and training are funded by Health Education England, and will lead into employment as a band 7 psychological therapist at the end of the training period. We are looking for an enthusiastic applicant to join our friendly, innovative and well-respected multidisciplinary Psychological Therapies Service in BANES. It is an exciting time in BANES as our team is developing at a pace with several new staff recently joining including a newly created Head of Therapies, Dr Kate Chapman.

Banes PTS offers a wide range of psychological therapies including CBT, EMDR, MBT, DBT, Art Psychotherapy, Family and Couples Therapy, and Psychodynamic therapy, in both group and individual contexts.

PTS is developing good relationships with other teams in the locality, who value the input and contribution of all our team members. We strive to offer the best service possible to our service users.

Main duties of the job

You will work as part of our provision for people presenting with Complex Emotional Needs (CEN). You will support the development of a CEN pathway within the BaNES locality and be an active member of our DBT team. The successful applicant will be highly motivated to provide a good quality, evidence-based psychological service.

We are looking for somebody with excellent communication and engagement skills, who can work autonomously whilst enjoying being an integrated member of the Therapies and locality teams.

We are keen as a team to share our knowledge and skills with other teams in the locality to ensure people who access our service get the most effective and safe service. The Therapies team is an integral part of the wider BaNES Mental Health services. We work closely with BSW divisional teams such as the Complex Emotional Needs Team and will be heavily involved in future Community Mental Health Framework innovations as they develop.

Essential

  • Evidence of CPD in psychological interventions.
  • Evidence of experience of working with severe and enduring mental illness.
  • Evidence of work using psychological therapy with people with complex emotional needs.

Desirable

  • Qualification in psychological therapies.
  • Some training in one of the evidence based therapies for CEN and or experience using SCM.
