Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to join the Swindon Talking Therapies service (NHS Talking Therapies), as a qualified CBT Therapist. Swindon Talking Therapies see clients that are presenting with depression and anxiety disorders and has a strong reputation for the LTC (long term health conditions) work that we do with our clients. This role will involve delivering our high-intensity CBT interventions.

You will also receive regular supervision and an extensive programme of CPD opportunities to ensure your continued learning and development while you are working as part of a clinical network within a large Mental Health Trust. Swindon Talking Therapies also hosts two team days each year (summer and Christmas). These are opportunities to come together as a team, receive CPD, focus on service development and reflect on the achievements of the year. We place a high value on our staff team and their wellbeing, with regular team social events, a staff book club and a focus of wellbeing throughout the work that we do.

As well as delivering high quality therapy, we offer the opportunity to become involved in co-facilitating step 3 courses and provide in-house training with additional support to help you develop in this role. We also encourage our therapists to develop specialisms to help with our service delivery.

Main duties of the job

Relevant experience and a passion for working with those with mild to moderately severe anxiety and depression is a key requirement of the post.

You should have the relevant NHS Talking Therapies qualification or equivalent and have access to your own transport, as you will need to be independently mobile and able to travel to different locations in Swindon.

To provide individual and group psychological therapies for people with a wide range of psychological presentations.

To offer regular clinical supervision (both individual and group) to peers, trainees and other staff.

To help offer a highly specialist and entirely autonomous evidence-based therapy service to the established Swindon Talking Therapies service.

To undertake regular teaching, as appropriate, in psychological approaches to relevant staff including trainees and team members.To assist in the planning and implementation of service developments regarding specialist areas of skill linked to service priorities in collaboration with local Clinical Managers. (e.g. long term conditions, complex needs).

Job responsibilities

To allocate approximately 70% of time to direct and indirect clinical which should be predominantly CBT based.

To provide a community mental health service to patients referred by the General Practitioners at the nominated surgery by working flexibly.

When required, to assist with group psychological activity as discussed with the Clinical Lead.

When required, to gather together and organise information about opportunities and resources in the local area which may be of benefit to clients referred to the service (e.g. voluntary and community organisations, educational and recreational opportunities).

When required to participate in liaison meetings with GPs and other members of the Primary Care Health Team, as appropriate.

When required, to supervise other staff within the service.

To advise the Clinical Lead about the supervision needs of the staff.

When required, to participate in the Talking Therapies Service business and professional meetings including departmental meetings and other meetings as required.

To be aware of and comply with all policies, procedures and directives of the Trust.

To maintain and further develop high standards of Clinical Psychology and Counselling practice through co-operative work with other Clinical/Counselling Psychologists and Counsellors and involvement in professional audit.

To comply with the Behavioural and Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy, Counsellors in Primary Care and British Psychological Societys Code of Conduct as well as procedures and government legislation, as it applies to the service.

To support the Clinical Lead in the development and implementation of effective Clinical Governance across the Service.

When required to support and participate in multidisciplinary clinical audit in the service.

To promote the use of effective interventions in the service.

To participate in Clinical Governance processes in the Service and in the profession.
